Out of interest I googled the game, and the wiki has already been updated to cover the discovery of this gaming piece 8)

It's much easier in wiki to link to a news item than fill in the gaps in the article through reference to reliable sources, so some editors seem to race to be the first to record stuff. The Guardian is useful for this because it is not paywalled.

Yes I was impressed by that!
I used to play Hnefatafl, or rather Tablut (slightly smaller variant) a bit back in the day, it's a decent game. Simple online implementation of it here:
