Part 3 next Monday night at 9pm on BBc 4 from the Mongol conquests to modern day. Parts 1 and 2 over the past couple of weeks still available on iPlayer cover the rise of Persian culture through the Achaemenids and Sassanian (and Abbasids). Excellent show with lots of visits to interesting archaeological sites and references to the writings of Ferdowsi (the Shahmeneh) and Omar Khayaam. Highly recommended if you're at all interested in ancient Persia and/or the rise of Islam.
