My recently renewed interest in the Federate troops is hitting a stumbling block as it appears my knowledge is some decade too old. Can anyone recommend up to date reading material/s?
I am at the stage where foederate were probably newly raised Auxilia units dressed in the Roman style of the day equipped from the local fabricate but sporting Gothic/German hairstyles and shaven faces? Auxilia Palatina may have worn armour.
