Based on an earlier DNA analysis:

The genetic makeup was similar to modern Mediterranean populations with very little from sub-Saharan Africa, apparently; the mummies cover such a wide time span that the latest could conceivably have been Graeco-Roman but the results are said to be consistent across a 1300-year period.
