Title: Roman Epitaphs
Post by: Dangun on October 01, 2017, 03:22:07 PM
Not normally my thing, but I just finished a book which seemed to be a long list of Roman epitaphs.

So just wondering what the longest serving Roman soldier is you've come across in your reading?
And what was the oldest Roman recruit you've seen?

I just find it interesting to be able to track some soldier's careers across different unconnected sources. It often gets recorded on grave stones. And for what its worth, this book had one soldier with a 45 year career and one guy that joined the legions at 28.
