A classic "don't judge a book by its cover" job.  Hideous modern exterior, fascinating medieval interior.  Modernising the front while keeping the inside is quite common in old English towns.  My daughter worked in a shop on Stonegate in York.  Modern front and sales floor but, behind the scenes, a maze of small medieval rooms and wooden stair cases.  Getting stock up and down stairs was a nightmare.
