Oddly, I came across this researching ox wagons in relation to Goth migration just the other week.

now that is bizarre....!

Especially as trek wagons and proposed Goth wagons probably have nothing in common :)  The fact that trek wagons used six to eight span of oxen compared with the largest number I've seen attached to a Roman wagon is two is crucial.  Boer wagons would have had either greater carrying capacity or longer endurance or probably both.
