Title: Neo-Babylonians & Medes
Post by: rodge on March 19, 2020, 01:29:28 PM
Embarking on a Neo-Babylonian & Mede Armati force for the conflict against the Neo-Assyrians. Very new territory for me.
I imagine there is very little info but:
Do we know anything about shield decoration (I have found nothing bar plain colours on various miniatures)?
And what could they plausibly carry as 'standards'? Metal discs bearing Marduk, Shamash etc devices for the Babylonians? And Mithra for the Medes?
If anyone could point me at any visual reference I'd be grateful

I thought I remembered someone asking about Neo-Babylonian standards in the past - and then I realised it was you: http://soa.org.uk/sm/index.php?topic=2016

There are some indication of geometrically-patterned Mede shields, which could be leather woven through canes in "spara" style:

I had forgotten about that thread, thanks. And for the links.
