this might not be everyone's cup of tea but since its super up to date (and indeed a heavily revised edition at that) and goes through in detail potential place-names (including assessment of all teh potential copyist errors) in Roman Britain its definitely worth a read

Thanks Dave, much to delve into there. The author is an interesting lad.  A fair while ago he decided to look into the evidence of Arthur issue and wrote about it in a blog.  Don't know if it's still about.

didnt realise about that aspect of the author ie Arthur interest. Might have a delve
