Title: Vietnamese Chronicles
Post by: Dangun on August 29, 2016, 03:51:30 PM
Have any of the medieval Vietnamese chronicles been translated into English?

I think the answer is no, but just checking.

There may be extracts in Sources of Vietnamese Tradition (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sources-Vietnamese-Tradition-Introduction-Civilizations/dp/0231138636/), but otherwise I'm not aware of any.

I do have Le Dai-Viet et ses voisins, d'après le Dai-Viet su ky toan thu: Mémoires historiques du Dai-Viet au complet (https://www.amazon.fr/Le-Dai-Viet-et-ses-voisins/dp/B00140CE7M/) (Nguyẽ̂n Thé̂ Anh et al., 1990) and there may well be more in French, if that's any good to you.

Thanks Duncan. I just wanted to check I wasn't missing anything.
I am happy to use the French stuff for point data, or source checking, but I can't stomach it for long narratives.
