QuoteThe artefacts were found in the temple of Dendera, in Qena province, 280 miles (450km) south of Cairo, Egypt's antiquities ministry said.
Archaeologists believe the statue's smiling features may belong to the Roman emperor Claudius
Interesting. Seems the sphinx had been painted. I am having trouble pinpointing the exact site of this dig. It looks like it may be just beyond the mudbrick walls enclosing the Hathor Temple complex near the Isis (East) Gate. Now closed, the Isis Gate was open when I visited in 2019. Thanks for passing this tidbit along.
Dendera, is there some other famous stuff from there?
