Title: Is it a fake?

The suggestion seems to be that it is a genuine ancient vase, but with the painting added in modern times. So the vase-painting is a forgery, but the vase isn't?

They really need to get it in the lab and do the tests.

so its still an antique of the period just not as authentic as was originally supposed. Presumably the paint shows up as 'recent' in terms of age
