The proverbial pig that flies is not recorded in English until the 17th century. Medieval pigs (swin) are associated with lechery, as in
Man..is hardy as a lyon..leccherus as a sqwyne, malycious as an owle. And, no, I've never thought of owls as particularly malicious either ???
