Title: Finds of trebuchet shot from Kenilworth
Post by: Erpingham on June 11, 2024, 11:23:22 AM
A nice collection of shot (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1vvkxwg11zo) from the 1266 siege. The 105kg one must have taken a fair sized engine to heave it.  I do wish they wouldn't use the word "fire" for a mechanical weapon, though.

Good question.  They seem to have been found beneath the walls, so maybe in the moat (Kenilworth had a huge moat).  A proper write up would be good, with details of find spots to be able to locate likely shooting locations and a detailed look to see if the had hit something solid before coming to rest.
