I've a sudden urge to use a draco standard with some medium spearmen.
Nicked from some Eastern Romans?

or possibly from the Avars
A fashion that didn't stand the test of time. I suspect the fabrics in use then didn't stand up to the West and tear. Silk would probably have done but been very expensive. It's a great idea in theory and seems to have been quite widespread in practice. With access to modern materials much easier. I also wonder if the air resistance in the rider was greater than with a normal flag.

They had wolf heads didn't they? Or was that Bulgars?
Avars may have had a swallow tailed standard with different patterns by clan/ unit. Sarmatians were the main vector of dragon standards ( perhaps via Dacians) No reason to suppose that some Slavs did not copy Avar or Sarmatian models, or even Eastern Germans or perhaps Romans.
