Local to me and in fact I was in the very close vicinity today...
Seems like a silly place to build a chapel or a holy well for that matter.
:P
Plenty of water....
One might say a superfluity...
It's an interesting area in all seriousness and we are awash with saints too...
Splendid name - Treacle Island - and an intriguing idea that it was the closest thing you could get to a desert island near Wales!
They were real hardcore those medieval Welsh saints....
:-\
Just look at Bedwin sands...
Welsh saints seem to have liked Bristol Channel islands. St Gildas (yes, that Gildas) lived on Steep Holm and St Caradoc on Flat Holm it is said. I wonder if there was a hierarchy, with less famous saints like Tecla and Triog only managing to get little islands?
Denny Island is my favourite

Ah, yes. One can just imagine St. Twrogg gazing out over the Bristol Channel and considering the possibilities...
"Flat Holm? No, Caradoc already has that one. Steep Holm? Gildas got there first. Damn! We'll just have to use that unpromising pile of rocks over there...";D
