Was fake Roman emperor real...? Yes almost certainly. We have had a strand on this previously and whilst they may not have been emperors in the same vein as those we know they would have been trying to hold a bit of the empire together amidst the chaos and the good way to get yourself accepted in that position was declare yourself Emperor and mint some coins.
