Hummm! Nice diagram but not yet convinced. If it worked well they would have used it for the later pyramids and there would be more than this fragmentary, at best evidence.

Given they have managed to find voids inside pyramids using modern scanning technology, you'd have thought they'd have found the vertical passages necessary to lift the stones using water?

I've always thought of the Pyramid construction program as an unemployment relief activity, so labour saving devices would be beside the point  ;)
