Can somebody who can read Greek tell me what word is used for 'soldiers' in this. Just out of interest and it might tell me something

does seem to be a pretty generic 'soldiers' then, certainly by the time you get to 1st century it's the term that seems to be used as the standard in the Greek New Testament.
