The Ulster Museum's mummified Egyptian lady (Dyn. 25) appears to have been of European descent on her mother's side, and to have died from a stab wound to the back.

Thanks, Duncan for an interesting article. Takabuti's violent death makes me wonder if she died as the result of domestic violence, a power struggle between local factions, or was killed during another crime like robbery. Talk about a cold case homicide.

I wasn't that surprised with her having been of European descent. By that point in Egyptian history, there would have been a number of European types living in, or having an ongoing relationship with the country and its people. I was thinking of Greek mercenaries as an example. It would be interesting to see a study of ancestry of other mummies from that era for comparison.
