Anarchy and Henry II/III coins found in Norfolk

Mr Marsden is obviously a Maudist given all the talk about Stephen usurping the crown...  8)

And if memory serves, Norfolk was not that quiet - but also misses the point that if the purse contained Henrician coins, then cannot be an Anarchy loss.

Not really missed - "Dr Marsden ... believes the purse contained the Stephen coins, while the others were lost separately".

Fair enough, missed that qualification, though one does then wonder the odds of two different lots of 12th C coins being lost or hidden in such proximity to each other.

And also the idea that the cut Stephen coins had to be in the purse but the later cut coins didn't.  Perhaps the distribution plot of the finds puts them in clearly distinct locations?

Perhaps these were the best coins that this person had. A widow's mite of hoards?
