Ironically, while "Saint" Thurstan helped organise the English army at the Battle of the Standard, the opposing general, King David I of Scotland, is also regarded as a saint!

Yet another example of how politicising things that should be apolitical, such as Christian worship, healthcare, etc, can completely upset the normal smooth running of relations between London and Edinburgh?

St Cuthbert has quite a good batting average, being credited with victory at the Standard, Neville's Cross and Flodden, to name but three.
