Egyptian mechanical dog

Clever people. It's odd though that there is an expectation to identify breeds of dog from that long ago. As we know breeds that are too inbred build up problems and there is usually a drift in breeds sometimes noticeable on even over a few generations. There were no Cruft's standards back then.

...and not just dogs.  The humans in Egypt also tended to be pretty inbred.

This is quite a nice piece, Dave.  The MET has an amazing collection of ancient artifacts.

Keeping with the dog theme, I always thought the Hounds and Jackals game (Middle Kingdom) on display in the MET equally fascinating and ties in with our love of gaming.
