I used to live about quarter of a mile from there and the cave with all the bones which was also found.

I hate to think what the traffic is like getting in and out of the new development. That isn't a big road.

Absolutely. 80% of all houses built in UK since 1945 have been located in known flood plains, justifying mind-bogglingly expensive and ingenious engineering to prevent residents from getting their feet wet.

In Cumbria there has been discussion about whether we should think about starting to build infrastructure in the Pennines and Lake District on the grounds that if Governments actually believe in Global warming, they'll stop investing in London and will need somewhere to move people to. After all if the estimates are true, people living now will see the Tube full of salt water

I suppose it's the equivalent of the late Romans pondering whether it was time to refurbish some of the old hill forts. It's a straw in the wind and tells you, even as you discuss the decision, that the world has changed irrevocably.

the area where i live is predicted to be underwater by 2050 if nothing changes. Luckily I live on the only mini mountain in the village (ok its only 140 feet above sea level) and could have my own crannog if i live that long

It's probably more productive to think like a Dutchman.  I mean, something like 20% of the Netherlands already lives below sea level.  Building a few dikes is undoubtedly cheaper than relocating up to 10 million inhabitants, not to mention the financial services that account for around 40% of GDP.
