Here are the details of the Alberta DBA Open Championship to be held on Sept 30 in Calgary Alberta, beside the Canadian Rockies (as part of FallCon, running Sept. 28-30,2012).

Game Name: Alberta DBA Open Championship

Rule Set Used: DBA 2.2

Hosts:Don Ray and Mark  Wall on behalf of Calgary Camp Followers and EDBAG (Edmonton DBA Gamers)

Date and time:Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm

Number of Games: 4 rounds of DBA battles. Each round lasts 50 minutes.

Table Size Needed (our table sizes are 2.5" x 5"): 10 tables

Number of Players: 16

Short Description of your event:

The Alberta DBA Open is a fun DBA four round  tournament  that will result in the emergence of this year's Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper DBA champions for Alberta, and  in which all participants will enjoy themselves. We are using 15mm figures for any DBA armies ranging from 3000 BCE to 1600 AD that are listed in the DBA 2.2 rule book. We'll be using the DBA 2.2 rules. If you have your own painted DBA armies, terrain and battleboards, please bring them. Some loaner armies, terrain  and battleboards will be available.

The scoring will be simple. Opponents are chosen randomly and whoever has the most points at the end of 4 rounds is the winner. Points are based as follows:
.   5 points for each element destroyed (not counting the enemy's General)
.   10 points for destroying the enemy General
.   10 points for capturing the enemy's camp (you have to hold it until the end)
.   15 points for winning the game (victory)
.   -1 point for each element lost

In order to keep games within the time allotted, BUAs and rivers will not be permitted.

There will be mini-prizes for all  registered participants. The Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper champions will also each receive a special prize (the gold prize is a year's membership in the SOA and a sub to Slingshot!). There will be prizes for the Junior (12 and under) and Youth (under 21) Champ ions! The joint decisions of the hosts  in the interpretation of rules, awarding of prizes and all other matters relating to the event will be final and not subject to appeal once the judgement has been delivered: fun is to be encouraged.

Any chance the organisers might be 'nudged' into submitting as many results from the competition as possible toward the SoA Championship (as Keith McNelly has in the past with results from NZ)?
