A lot of the army lists in ADLG look very same-y and it can be tricky for any to jump out that have 'character' I've heard it said there aren't any killer armies in ADLG, but there certainly are killer troop types and the Later Macedonian doesn't have them granted pike are, but they are so expensive you aren't realistically going to get more than 4? and you can win that battle, but lose everywhere else. Enjoyed reading your summary, I've always felt trying to win terrain to be a risky game plan.
