Title: The world's oldest trousers
Post by: Old Sarum on May 10, 2021, 01:54:12 PM
I came across this documentary by the German Archaeological Institute about recreating what is apparently the oldest pair of trousers, which were discovered in a dig in China. It turns out their construction is remarkably complex. Even if you don't have steppe nomad armies it is worth a watch.

Glad to see that at least one pair were burgundy. I used that colour for some of my Skythians and it looked good.

Note that while, in the 80s, I had a pair of burgundy shoes, a burgundy jacket and a burgundy jumper I did not stoop to burgundy trousers.

I think a photo of Dougs trousers are required after all that.

Sartorial elegance of days gone by, and all that

I sadly no longer have my famous trousers. Think Cargo Pants by Jackson Pollock. Nic (Eureka) offered me an army for them at Cancon one year, then reneged when I started unbuckling my belt. My current trousers are more capacious I'm afraid, but much less 'artistic'.
