Having swallowed the bitter pill of not being able to attend Battleday, I thought I might tempt fate and see if I can get down to Salute 51 next month
The good news is that I could do this one on the train, almost door to door
Sorry not to see you at the Battleday.
I will be present with the Society of Ancients stand. We will be selling our new publication Alala! (Greek Hoplite Rules from Simon MacDowall) along with our usual selection of goodies.
There will also be a demo game, using Impetus 2 I believe, from the Society of Ancients demonstration team (The Dead Arrows!).
Richard
The Dead Arrows..... ;D
My son has just bought tickets for Salute 51. I hope to be there to join him and, if so, will drop by.
I have also tempted fate and bought venue and train tickets.....
Enjoy. I will have to get down again sometime. On my one visit, about 10 years ago, I found the scale of it almost overwhelming
15mm? ;D

Steady on! Has everyone recovered from the Battle Day misfortunes yet? I can see them exclaiming words like
"Oh no! Holly is going to another wargames event!" and diving for cover already.
:P
You can go off some people..... ::)
It will be bedlam I am sure. Looking forward to it
Whatever the scale :)
well, I seem to be on the train and on my way to Salute....so far so good

Enjoy yourself. (If you haven't already spotted this, large stretches of the DLR - which is how I generally get there - are out of commission this weekend.)
The Eagle has landed....
Show is very busy thus far and Richard is looking keen and raringto go on the society stand :)
Watch out for Bob Cordery, who is apparently motoring around on borrowed mobility scooter. Crowded Salute, inexperienced driver. What could go wrong ::) Actually, Bob's been struggling health wise and it looked like he wasn't going to make Salute and the Warlords stepped up and sorted the mobility stuff, which was very decent of them.
Very decent of them indeed
Oops, spamming the thread...reception is a bit hit and miss

Ta. Well that's Salute 51 done and dusted. I've had to admit defeat and leave early due to tiredness and a small MS relapse.
Nether the less, good to see people and games and the society stand and get few things too obviously
Glad you had fun, though sorry to hear about the health issues cutting things short.
I get small periods of relapses which dont last too long but tiredness makes them worse/brings them on
I just look like I am drunk when they hit ;D

Sorry that happened to you. Salute really looked like fun.

I mentioned Bob Cordery's plans to get to Salute above. Sadly, he didn't make it. He had a fall, broke his leg and is now in hospital.

Bob, is having more than his fair share of bad luck. I wish him well.
This blog (https://onelover-ray.blogspot.com/2024/04/salute-2024-very-long-post.html) has hundreds of photos from Salute. Is that you in pic No. 2, Dave?
Nice set of pictures. There are some lovely bits of scenic work there. Some good medieval ship action. Sadly, only a few shots of the SoA stand. But a mention for Jon Freitag, many of whose online opponents are featured.

No, not in any of them lol
Thank you for the link to photo report Justin.
From these photos it appears that Salute 2024 was mainly a Fantasy or similar for its demo / participation games, with WW2 a strong second and then a sprinkling of other historical games. Interesting.
Sad news that Bob Cordery fell and has double fracture in his leg and unable to attend show when he had been help to get around.

Salute was an oddity for me. Lots of non historical stuff, some semi historical and some historical. I reckon ancients was about 10% of the mix
