I thought the site offArsuf was fairly well understood from the sources. Saladin supposedly and understandably upped the intensity of the attacks as the Crusader column reached the woods on the outskirts of the town where his cavalry would be at a disadvantage. It would be news if the site was suggested anywhere else.
Nor is it likely that the master of the Hospitallers lost control as charging out of the column required the protecting infantry to open up a gap wide enough for a formed mounted unit to exit which requires sone coordination.
