Title: Irish armies blog and resources
Post by: Erpingham on May 17, 2021, 02:44:10 PM
I was reading around Irish kern and came across this blog from the US

https://www.wildeirishe.com/

Ok, its a re-enactment group and the focus on 16th century stuff but, before you turn away in disgust, it is actually well written and evidence based.  I recommend the blog entry on the leine  and its colouring.  If you've ever asked "how did they dye clothes for common mercenaries with one of the most expensive spices around?", this gives a solid answer, while tilting at Elizabethan anti-Irish propaganda in the process.  There are a couple of interesting arms and armour articles in the resources section too.
