Title: Indo-Scythians and Kushans
Post by: Duncan Head on June 14, 2016, 01:25:11 PM
An article that was new to me (though published in 2001) is Bopearachchi's Armures et armes des Indo-Scythes d'après leurs émissions monétaires et les données archéologiques (https://www.academia.edu/22821541/Armures_et_armes_des_Indo-Scythes_dapr%C3%A8s_leurs_%C3%A9missions_mon%C3%A9taires_et_les_donn%C3%A9es_arch%C3%A9ologiques). As well as Indo-Scythians in the strict sense he talks about Kushan evidence. New and interesting to me are figures 6 and 7 (7 is also at figure 12), both "Gandharan" - most "Gandharan art" was produced in the Kushan period. Fig 6 is a hunter, possibly female, shooting a bow from the back of an armoured horse; 7/12 is an armoured foot-archer.
