hopefully the link works.....quite a nice paper on the Battle of Chester that's fairly up to date (although some recent theories have placed the battle elsewhere)

It's worth reading Koch's commentary on Trawsganu Kynan alongside it.

Imperial Dave

yes I recall that but have lent my copy out to a friend so cant reread it at the moment!

Hi Roy,

the book I refer to is the following:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20454575-cunedda-cynan-cadwallon-cynddylan

will have a look to see if there are any excerpts that relate to the discussion of the Chester battle and will post if I find them. The book itself is really good and am waiting for it to be returned to me....!

thanks Jim. The introduction is quite a good 'standalone' read in itself and useful to anyone interested in the period(s) covered. Some of the specifics are covered in the main body of text in the book but maybe there are a few articles on that website that deal with the battle of Chester without having to resort to buying the book (which I do recommend by the way :) )

While looking for more information on the skeletal remains in the burial pits, I found this article which was interesting both on the osteology front but also the wonderful world of mid-20th century archaeology.
