Title: Chapter on Thracian warfare
Post by: Duncan Head on April 26, 2022, 08:46:26 PM
Academia.edu sent me a link to https://www.academia.edu/21657079/Stoyanov_Totko_Warfare_In_Julia_Valeva_Denver_Graninger_and_Emil_Nankov_eds_A_Companion_to_Ancient_Thrace_Wiley_Blackwell_2015_426_442 which looks like quite a good summary of the state of things.

Would any of it suggest any revisions to your views as explained in the WRG Macedonian and Punic Wars book Duncan?
A quick skim suggested it might be more "Greekish" with some form of regular troops but that would move it away from being Thracian with wild charges and rapid run-aways.

There's some new archaeological finds I already knew about, like the Golyamata Mogila armour, but otherwise I am not sure that it changes much.

That's good. I'm just finishing a 6mm Thracian army (that's real 6mm not 6mm pretending to be 25mm) and was concerned that I might have to start all over again....
