Title: Antonius versus Cassius
Post by: Paul Innes on December 31, 2016, 04:04:04 PM
...being a report of the first of our three-part Battle of Philippi:

I've been intending to put this on for a while now, but it's a biggie. So I've divided it into three reports, each for one of the battles we played. More to follow!

An excellent endeavour.  Antonius' battle plan seems to have worked pretty much as historically, despite a display of initial cold feet by the right-most Antonine legion.

One very minor observation: I think the spell checker had been imbibing: duplex acies and triplex acies came out as duplex acres and triplex acres respectively, which coincidentally reminded me that a deployed legion takes up about an acre.

That triviality aside, a first-class report of a first-class action.
