I did hope it was published on April Fools day, but sadly, no.  I wonder what they'll find instead?  More murder victims?

Probably plus 100 or so shopping trolleys

Well, serendipitously I discover last week that if you find a lost shopping trolley in the water, the major supermarkets have an online reporting tool so it can be collected.  You just give its What Three Words co-ordinates.

They need to know where to start looking. Excalibur comes from the Welsh Caledfwlch - which is a compound of caled, 'hard', and bwlch, 'breach, cleft' which obviously refers to the stone in which it was embedded. So investigators need to find a big stone with a crack in it then start searching in nearby lakes. Simple.

My take remains that Arthur was a field commander - a sort of Magister Militum - under high king Ambrosius and he was headquartered at Camulodunum - "Camelot". After Ambrosius' death he retained his command under a compact of kings - though there was no longer a high king - until Badon.

I didn't know that very useful. Not that I have found any recently. There will be a lot of rusting bits of ironwork, how will they identify Excalibur? From the stories the scabbard would be interesting.

To retrieve Excalibur, do the What Three Words need to be in Welsh?

There is one obvious problem. The sword wasn't just thrown into the lake, it was collected by the Lady of the Lake. So to find it you'll have to find her first

And then will she let go of the sword.....

Yes, she probably has the sword stashed in some enchanted realm, so no amount of metal detecting and ROV use is going to find it.
