Our esteemed president managed to lose the Latin cavalry with great gusto, but the Romans held on for the win!

A handy way of testing an Ilipa OB is to line up Scipio's army with the Romans in the centre and the Spaniards on the wings.  Send everyone in straight ahead and if Scipio wins then the Romans (or their Spanish allies) are too strong!  This is why Scipio was so chary about accepting battle in the first place and resorted to his cunning plan - he knew that in a straight fight he would lose.

Still, a nice engagement and much fun was presumably had by all.

Hi Patrick, that sounds good as well.  People seemed to pick up the rules pretty quickly, and everyone got on with it.  Some nice friendly banter afterwards too.  I certainly enjoyed watching it go - it's nice to umpire a game that doesn't need much umpiring...
