Gents,

All very interesting and all very well and good.

It seems, at the risk of downplaying my own "work," that IMPETVS was not quite the optimal choice for this particular scenario.

Based on the current thread of the discussion, I wonder what rules (if any) provide for a more historically realistic portrayal of German tactics on the field while retaining a comfortable degree of playability?

I have seen some interesting house rules developed for commanding barbarian armies in Hail Caesar . . . Having a strong preference for ARMATI, I confess to wondering about the accuracy of ordered lines of barbarian warbands and the regulated movement of same.

There was mention made of DBMM, I believe. Perhaps I should look into these rules? I think I have them (an older version) somewhere around here.
