Martial Culture in Medieval Towns

Accidentally, while wrestling with a stubborn link for another topic, I came across this blog connected to a project at the University of Bern.   It is full of fascinating little snippets broadly connected to the martial culture of medieval European towns , including guilds, sports and the CV of a military consultant monk who knew anti-firearm magic.

I found this short article on Bruges militia interesting, for example, if rather mainstream compared some of the others. 

This one is quite remarkable in reflecting the technical skill of Swiss clockmakers even in the 15th century, as well as military organisation in Swiss towns in the Burgundian Wars.

I enjoyed wandering through these, so I hope other members will find something of interest in there too.
