I'm tinkering with another way of formatting AARs that gets around Blogger's irritating quirk of displaying images in very low-res format unless you select them - which gets them away from the accompanying text. The formatting is aimed at smartphones though it works fine for PCs. Let me know if it works for you. Battle report here.

I wonder what the sea will say next?  A quote from Trenet's La Mer perhaps?

I think you're doing a good job showing counters on a 3D dressed table can deliver a pleasing effect  but am worrying a bit about the cubes overshadowing the counters.  Maybe try jacking the counters up with more card or thin ply so relative heights are closer?

I don't know. What do you suggest?

Oh, never mind the counters. They're just fill-ins for miniatures I don't have. The cubes seem discrete enough when miniatures are used, at least nobody has yet complained about them.

The perfect opportunity to listen to your favourite version - I know you like a ballad :)  With your knowledge of French you'll soon pick out something.

Sur le pont de Soissons
On y lance on y lance
Sur le pont de Soissons
On y lance a tout le monde....

In the past, I experimented using this approach to battle reporting with text embedded within game photos.  My experience is that this loses a lot of flexibility and increases the risk of introducing typos into the corpus.  I tend to go back and edit the text post-publication which is much more difficult with text embedded into a graphic.  If this approach works for you then that is what matters.  I found the new format difficult to read since both graphic and text were quite small.  Embedding a lot of text into a graphic image tends to lose resolution in the conversion with the text looking a bit choppy to my eyes.  Perhaps resolution is better on a phone but suffers on my laptop.

It's better on a phone. Try it and tell me what you think. I do the layout in InDesign and export the pages as jpegs, so editing text is easy enough.

I was thinking more along the lines of

La mer
Qu'on voit danser le long des golfes clairs
A des reflets d'argent, la mer
