Can the Franks beat the Romans?

Following on a comment by Anthony after the last Syagrius vs Clovis game, I tried a solitaire game with my Vassal module, where the Franks assault the Roman infantry frontally using two lines of Warriors. It did not go well. Battle report here.

It can be done. I tried another solitaire game and - presuming the cavalry are in a  Mexican standoff - the Franks smash the Romans with this deployment. I'll post the game if anyone's interested. Optio is about tactical nuance. There, said it.
