Blogger Sun of York has posted a replay of his games using the Galleys and Galleons naval rules. The link is here for anyone interested:

Thanks.  Interesting.

Does anyone know of a set of rules for massed galleys....

The only rules I have seen that reduced things to an acceptable level of book-keeping (ie, none) were the WRG Ancient Naval Rules by Richard Nelson.  You may wish to look here https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/19350/naval-wargames-rules-fleet-action-1000-bc-500-d.

Of course, if you are looking for a set of rules for the galleys and galleons (and galleasses) era then you want the 16th Century Rulettes.  https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/18374/rulettes-16th-century-naval-warfare.  I bought my copy when they first came out for the massive sum of 50p - they definitely do not sell rules like these any more.  8)

Hi Nick,

Thanks.  Have both of those rules somewhere but had forgotten them...and played the Renaissance one a little a very long time ago.

I got a set of them at the same time, and really meant to do something with them. They certainly had a lot going for them :-)
