Islamic wording on Viking clothes

I am afraid that I am a complete cynic about this.  Whilst it is indeed possible that 'Vikings' copied Islamic clothing patterns, or even that they traded Islamic clothes ( though these appear to be  of Scandinavian manufacture ) I think it far more likely that the patterns are without meaning and that the find isthe result of the political leanings of an archaeologist who wishes to contribute to the current crisis  in Sweden about immigration levels by showing that there have been Moslems in Sweden from a period that many Scandinavians regard as their heroic age ( which , of course there may have been).

Our previous discussion on this topic concluded that a religious purpose for the embroidery was unlikely and it had been used as a luxury decorative item.
