Yeah, I know.  Everyone is probably still recovering from the excitement of this year's event.  However, it is never too early to plan ahead.

The next Colours show will take place on Saturday 9th September at it usual venue, Newbury Racecourse.  All those wishing to book a table for a game or reserve a trade stand are invited to do so using the forms on the Newbury & Reading Wargames Society website.

Some more information on what will be in this packed show.

Demonstration and Participation Games

The Society will have its customary stand at the show.  This year we have organised a Mortem et Glorium Pacto workshop.  If you have never tried these rules, this is the perfect opportunity.

Other confirmed games include:

  • Breakthrough to Leipzig 1813
  • Op Daniel Boone - Hatchet Force. (20mm Vietnam Skirmish)
  • Vietnam 28mm Skirmish
  • Gladiator
  • Nagashino 1579
  • Isandlwana 1879 (BBB rules 28mm)
  • Wings of Glory - WW1 Aerial Combat
  • 2nd Mantinea 362 BC - the prize-winning game from Battle Day brought to you by Wargames Assoc. of Reading
  • DAK Attack - WW2 North Africa
  • Delhi 1803

Family Boardgames Café

In addition, we shall be running a Family Boardgames Café where you can just drop in and play a favourite game or learn a new one.  All games typically take 30-60 minutes to play and are suitable for the participation of younger family members.  Café assistants will be on hand to explain the rules and provide an opponent.  Available boardgames include the following

  • Carcassonne (6+)
  • Deep Sea Adventure (8+)
  • Settlers of Catan (12+)
  • Splendor (10+)
  • Ticket to Ride (6+)

No DBA competition this year, I see.  Not that I'm able to go.  If I had been going, the MeG workshop might have tempted me.

Nick Harbud

Yep, we decided on a change this year and have the Boardgames Café in that part of the venue.  One thought behind this is that it might entice more young visitors into the hobby - at least, more enticing than watching a bunch of guys engaging in a competition.

You should come along and see how it all pans out.
